My Creative Space: Costume Central
Things are hoppin' Chez Littlegreenbums this week. As Purim draws closer, I find myself burning the candle at both ends. We started on costumes tonight, in keeping with our Eleventh Hour tradition. I have Costume Issues, to put it mildly. I set my sights high, but can seldom find the time, money, or inclination to ante up when push comes to shove. This year is no exception...I have a Cat in the Hat, Thing One, Thing Two, a "barrelina," and a pair of undecideds. 'Undecided,' loosely translated, means something to the effect of, "Mommy, it's eleven and a half minutes till megillah reading, and I think I'd like to dress up as a Martian zookeeper. Can you make me a costume before we leave?" I'm not so much a fan of 'undecided.'
Tonight we finished up The Cat's accessories. And cut the baby's bangs. Wondering what everybody else is up to this week? Hightail it over to Kirsty's for this week's My Creative Space!

Love the hat of the cat.
ReplyDeleteThe cat's accessories are fabulous! I hope the undecideds turn out as well!!
ReplyDelete(I am a big fan of 11th hour craft - there's nothing like that surge of adrenaline to help push you across the line ... or should that be push you over the edge?!)
Good luck!
what am I doing this week?.......laying on the couch watching a movie eating chips
ReplyDeleteOh, wonderful hat! I can't see the first picture for some reason :( I'm yet to enter the world of costume-making for my children, but it looks both fun and terrifying! I guess it'd keep you busy with your brood, eek.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the connection between Purim and dress-ups?
I used to put a ton of time and energy into Calvin's costumes. Granted, he was just one kid, not six, but I really poured a lot of creativity into those costumes. Until second grade or so, when he asked wistfully: "Will I ever get to have a REAL costume?" (Meaning one of those cheesy store-bought ones, presumably.)
