Yup, that's ugly. Dirty chartreuse can seldom be referred to as anything else, you know?
But with a little perseverance, a little elbow grease, and a little bit of vision, we revealed....
a scruffy young swan! (Well, maybe not so young...that nasty yellow vinyl had to be close to thirty years old.)
We're still in the process of buffing the paint marks off with fine steel wool, but this roadside rescue has become the most sought-after---and fought over---chair in the kitchen. When we started out, my intention was to re-upholster the thing entirely, but the original red was in such good shape that I took the lazy way out. (Imagine that!)
love it. My grandma use to have a chair like that and I was fascinated with it. I love the red.I wouldn't change it either.
ReplyDeleteLove that chair!!! I am styling a play date next week and have been looking for old chairs to use. What a great find:)
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! Those step stools would be high status currency in my house too. Man, roadside finds are the best.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant find Wendy. I love it and wouldn't cover it either.
ReplyDeleteThat looks unreal! Love the little steps. Up to the little chair!
ReplyDeleteOh it's utterly gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteRemember Bubby's? I think it was blue vinyl or something awkward like that, wasn't it?
