My Creative Space: Done!

I've been slaving away at this necklace since last week's Creative Space, and I wasn't sure if I'd finish up in time to take a halfway-decent picture before dusk.  However, by meticulously avoiding all mothering/houskeeping/responsible adult-type duties this afternoon, I was able to wrap things up in time to catch those last, precious rays of sunlight.
This is the first piece of jewelry I've made that I'd actually wear "in real life."  The links are made of 20 gauge annealed steel wire, and under the tutelage of my amazing friend/jewelry-guru Sara, I made all of them (and even the jump rings!) from scratch.  The vintage glass bead in the middle is a small souvenir from our old house---part of one of the bathroom chandeliers, if you can believe it.  Methinks I like it better on the necklace than in the loo...

Catch up with some more creative types over at Kirsty's!

  5. Oh, that's lovely. You're not completely crazy, are you?

And I like how you have a little bit of your old home close to your heart ... I'm glad you didn't take the fire place with you ... that'd be a bit too chunky.

  9. Wow! That looks amazing - all the twists and links are so even, it looks beautiful. I laughed at the "meticulously avoiding adult-type duties" because thats exactly what I'm thinking as I'm sewing most of the time!
